Our chair offers a post as a

research assistant (m/f/d)

(100,00 %, pay grade 13 TV-L)

at the earliest possible date. The employment is initially limited for a period of three years with an option for prolongation. It is a qualification position in the sense of the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG), which is to promote the scientific qualification of the employee (either for PhD-students or postdocs). We offer a variety of independent tasks in research and teaching in a dynamic scientific discipline, the opportunity for scientific and personal development, as well as the intensive supervision of a (post-)doctorate.

We are a young, innovative, and internationally oriented team that questions the state of our current knowledge about the design and management of digital user experiences and business models and expands it with new perspectives. Our goal is to better understand and shape the impact of digital transformation on individuals,  organizations, and our society. We conduct basic research with high practical relevance characterized by interdisciplinarity, methodological diversity, international research collaborations, and industry collaborations (both with established companies and startups). We publish our research results in top-tier international peer-reviewed  journals and conferences.

Your tasks:

  • Support of the chair’s research on information systems, which lies at the intersection between management science, computer science, and psychology; in particular, we investigate user experiences, digital innovations and business models, the usability and the management of cyber-security, and a sustainable design of information systems.
  • Assumption of research tasks as well as planning, application, and implementation of research projects helpful for scientific qualification and preparation of a doctoral degree/professorship
  • Writing of scientific publications and presentation of research results at inter-/national conferences
  • Support of the design and implementation of courses taught in German and/or English (e.g. Create Your Tech Startup, Digital Innovation: From Idea to Impact, or User Experience (UX) Design and Management)
  • Motivation of computer science students to found innovative startups by supporting our teaching, mentoring students, and establishing and maintaining close contacts to the startup scene Düsseldorf

Our requirements:

  • Swiftly and successfully completed academic university degree in information systems, economics, business administration, computer science, psychology, industrial engineering, or a related field of study
  • A keen interest in current developments in the areas of digital innovation, digital business models, user experience, digital transformation, digital entrepreneurship, human-computer interaction, usable security, quantum computing, and/or artificial intelligence
  • Interest in empirical and/or design-oriented research (e.g., surveys, experiments), programming languages (e.g. Python), and/or statistical analysis techniques (e.g. using R, STATA, SPSS)
  • Very good English skills, both written and spoken
  • Above-average analytical and conceptual skills
  • Independent working style, initiative, above-average willingness to perform, high sense of responsibility, strong social and communication skills, and the ability to work in a team

The pay scale grouping will be, depending on the personal qualification of the applicant, up to pay grade 13 TV-L.
In principle, the employment can also take place part-time, if no compelling official reasons are opposed in an individual case.
